Micro:bit

Micro:bit

The Micro:bit is a handheld, programmable micro-computer that can be used for all sorts of cool creations, from robots to musical instruments. The possibilities are endless.

Students will first be introduced to the drag-and-drop programming interface to code the Micro:bit. They will focus on hands-on implementation of Micro:bit projects. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the micro:bit, LEDs, sound buzzer and other hardware components as we integrate these into the project.

Fun with the Microbit!
The children were experimenting to see how many could join the chain and still play the music. When Leah tapped the orange the circuit was closed and so played a musical note. Jamie held the other end of the circuit.

Spooky Halloween with Micro:bits
The children enjoyed using the Microbits to create a spooky Halloween window.
Micro:bit Traffic Lights
Lots of fun and noise in class today as Alex and Cian explain how they used the Micro:bit to create a Garda car.

The children have been writing the algorithm for the traffic lights this week. They then wrote the code and finally uploaded it to the Micro:bit. Good work guys!
